We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, inerrant, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, to His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of the lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Educational Foundation
Our mission is to teach our children to love God, develop a passion for learning and a sound educational basis. As part of the Charlotte Mason style of education, we believe in viewing and educating the child as a “whole person,” capable of appreciating the beauty of God’s world. Charlotte Mason’s motto was, “I am, I can, I ought, I will.” Her emphasis on character development is central to all learning. We must first seek to reach our children’s characters; feeding their minds can only be accomplished with hearts that are open and sensitive.
Our standards are rigorous, but our methods aren’t dry and dull. At all costs, we avoid “twaddle” – pointless field trips, poorly written books, repetitive busywork or dull textbooks. Our God has filled this world with wonders, and we wish to introduce our children to them while their minds are malleable and young. To that end, we enjoy enriching field trips involving plays, musical performances and cultural enhancement. We read living books: literature that has stood the test of time for quality of subject matter and authorship. Our seatwork includes classical techniques such as narrations to build the habit of attention, copywork of famous literature to build grammatical awareness, and independent creative writing to help our children’s minds soar. Central to all our studies is a deep respect and reverence for the Bible. Memorizing God’s word, learning Bible stories, singing beautiful hymns and understanding the history of the church are integral to a well-rounded education.
To develop our curriculum, we pull from the best of the educational world, choosing resources that reinforce our underlying philosophy. Our books and materials vary from year to year based on the unit studies we are enjoying, but our standards remain the same: quality materials that reinforce grace, peace and truth.
As GHA flows from year to year, we seek like-minded families to join us, families who are committed to following Christ in their homes and who seek a Christian education for their children, in accordance with GHA’s values and educational methods.
